Our history
More than 40 years of experience and progress
1971
Josef Betzler founds the company and lays the foundation for precision medical technology. The first surgical instruments are created in the basement of his home.
1992
The new building at Hohnerstrasse 15 expands the production area to over 300 m². An important step towards meeting the increasing demand for high-quality instruments.
2000
Tobias Betzler joins the family business and brings fresh impetus for the further development of the company.
2003
Josef and Tobias Betzler jointly found Josef Betzler oHG. The management of the family business is now in the hands of father and son.
2010
The generational change is completed: Josef Betzler hands over the management of the company to Tobias Betzler. The company is renamed Josef Betzler Surgical Instruments e.K.. At the same time, the production area is expanded to over 800 m² and state-of-the-art machines, such as 5-axis machining centers and a laser cutting system, are installed.
2013
The family business continues to grow: with now 10 employees and constant investment in new production technologies, the future of the company is secured.
2020
Production capacities are further expanded: With the addition of a new part of the building, the production area grows to 1,200 m². At the same time, a second machine is added to the laser cutting department to enable even more efficient and flexible production. Another milestone is the validated final cleaning, which is now carried out in-house – a significant step towards optimizing processes and ensuring the highest standards of hygiene.

At Betzler, sustainability is more than just a promise – it is firmly anchored in our corporate philosophy. Our climate-neutral production is based on a holistic energy concept that includes photovoltaic systems, heat pumps and a sustainable e-mobility strategy. Thanks to these measures, we cover a large part of our energy requirements ourselves and significantly reduce our carbon footprint.
